ASSESSMENT OF PROGRESS REPORTS 2021/2022

At the end of each year of study, PhD students must submit a progress report on their research for assessment by a panel of experts, which is composed by three members elected from the PhD staff of the Department. Approval of the report must be obtained if students are to continue with their research.

The assessment of progress reports will take place on September 9, 2022. Sessions will be held virtually.

Schedule

Assessment criteria: the PhD Commission has established that PhD students are required to give an oral presentation of their progress reports (a maximum of ten minutes), based on the written report which must be submitted previously.
 

Documents to be submitted
 

Documents to be uploaded by PhD students to their OneDrive folder before July  5, 2022. The Department will provide them with a link to their folder by email before June 17, 2022.

  1. Written report by the PhD student: a pdf file up to 2 pages long (following the PHD STUDENT REPORT TEMPLATE)
  2. Updated CV: a pdf copy of the CV (following the CV model that can be found on the PhD students website). PhD students must activate or update their PhD student profile on said website by filling out this online form. Should a student exceptionally not wish to make this data available online, s/he should contact the PhD program coordinator and present a standard CV.
  3. Documentary evidence: send a scanned copy (in a compressed file .zip or .rar) of all the certificates that demonstrate the alleged merits.
  4. Signed certificate of the code of good practice according to the attached model, if applicable. PhD students in the first follow-up must have uploaded this document to Sigma. Remember that you have 3 months from your admission to upload it. You must also attach it to the One Drive folder that we will share from the department for the rest of the documentation.

The PhD student will also have to upload their report and scanned certificates to their virtual folder on SIGMA (UAB online system).

Documents to be uploaded by supervisors (with the tutor’s agreement, if applicable) to the PhD student’s folder in OneDrive before July 15. The Department will provide them with a link to said folder by email.

  • Supervisor’s report (with the tutor’s agreement, if applicable)
    Before the assessment, PhD supervisors (with the tutor’s agreement, if applicable) should send a confidential report on the PhD student progress, after reading the student’s report. This SUPERVISOR REPORT TEMPLATE must be followed. PhD supervisors will also have to upload their report to the PhD student’s virtual folder on SIGMA (UAB online system).

 

Important remarks:

  • Information about “Research training activities” for PhD students under RD99/2011. More information about the PhD training activities can be found on the PhD website
     

     

  • Oral presentations and reports may be made in Catalan, Spanish or English.
  • Should a PhD student want to prove merits which are not part of the compulsory/optional training activities, documentary evidence should also be presented to the panel of experts. These merits will only be taken into account for the annual progress report assessment and will not be included in the academic transcript.
  • PhD students must upload all documents to their folder before July 5.
  • The PhD programme coordinator will inform students of the results they have obtained before starting the enrollment process.

  • In the event that there is a negative evaluation in the test called, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will summon the affected doctoral student within the period set by the regulations.
