Excavation which aims to prospect, excavate and study the prehistoric occupations of the Gali Chnaran Valley, a strategic area that is bought by the narrow area of the Rawanduz river before reaching the Soran Highlands.

The work started in the spring of 2017 has set the objectives of determining the global extension of the archaeological expectation areas, generic prospecting and conducting surveys that allow defining the temporal and occupational framework of the settlements. The results have allowed to document 4 karst cavities with archaeological levels that present evidence of prehistoric occupations. The survey carried out in the Gali Chnaran 1 cave, also known as Askhwati plng, has provided different strata that show inhabited occupations from the Mesolithic period and more specific occupations from the Neolithic period.
