My research is mainly focused on understanding the forces/mechanisms driving decision-making in living beings through the analysis of how these organisms move in space. This challenging and interdisciplinary topic brings together aspects from statistical physics, mathematical biology, movement ecology, psychology and information theory, among other.

Movement lies at the heart of every basic function that living organisms carry out to survive and to interact with the environment, so its analysis can render substantial information about the internal states of the organism and their corresponding regulation.

Our current lines of research cover the following topics: (i) Search theory through random and deterministic walks, (ii) Analysis of human visual search in homogeneous environments, and (iii) ant foraging (or animal foraging, in general) under laboratory conditions.
